University” and save the reputation permanently from any 
more future attacks/uncertainties about recognitions of 
AMIE etc.

IEI Alumni Association is also working on Establishing IEI University to 
ensure the Vertical Mobility of AMIE Graduates.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian
Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay,
Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination
Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD), Government of India.


Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance
to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture
and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the
MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit
students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further,
many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment
process.

“Cloud Based E-Learning Solution – Learning Management System”

The Institution Of Engineers (India) towards digitization, IEI has taken a step forward for transforming the learning process for Section A (four subjects) in digital mode through the TCS-iON platform. The Digital Learning Content shall be made available to the prospective students of AMIE for four papers of Section A in form of “Cloud Based E-Learning Solution – Learning Management System” on TCS-iON Platform.
 
For this value addition to the learning process of AMIE Section A (to be functional w.e.f 
01 September 2018), following time line has been decided:
 Prospective ST members being registered with effect from 01 Sep 2018 onwards shall have 
the facility of learning content in digital mode only.
 The registration fee for ST members shall be enhanced from Rs. 7050/- to Rs. 8280/-
which includes access facility for ‘Digital Learning Content’ with validity period of two 
years.
 The new forms for registration for Senior Technician Membership with the new fee 
structure having provision for access to Digital Learning Content shall be made available on 
the IEI website On 01 Aug 2018.

This has reference to Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) letter No.F.No.11-15/2011-AR(TS.11) dated 06/12/2012, where under it has been so intimated that the recognition already granted to The Institution of Engineers (India) courses and pass certificates issued there to, for being considered as equivalent to the requisite qualification required for recruitment/appointment in the Govt Department and PSUs, will cease to exist w.e.f. 01/06/2013, till the curriculum of the same is duly reviewed by AICTE, the regulator for extension/renewal of the recognition already granted. The operation of the above noted letter on being challenged has been stayed by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, vide order dated 31/05/2013 based in writ petition bearing W.P(C.) N.3790/2013 & CM Appl. 7079/2013 titled as IEI vs U.O.I & Ors. The case is pending in the High Court of Delhi.
